The primary purpose of cabin air filter is to help clean the air that enters into your vehicle through the ventilation system, keeping the air inside your vehicle clean and fresh.
Location of this cabin filter: Passenger side behind the glove box. Tools: Phillips head screwdriver.
When you change your filter (maybe variant for your model. Please see the owner’s manual or find a local mechanic for exact instructions for the particular model):
- Open the glove box. If the vehicle is equipped with a cabin filter, there should be a label on the inside bottom panel of the glove box stating.
- Unscrew the clip that secures the glove box dampener cable to the frame. This clip is located on the right side of the dash assembly below the glove box. The base of the clip will pull out of the hole in the frame if the screw is unscrewed to about half an inch. The cable will stay connected to the clip base.
- Press inward on the sides of the glove box to disengage the stops. This will allow it to hang low enough to access the filter housing cover.
- Pull the filter housing door off of the housing to access the filter.
- Pull the filter frame straight out from the housing.
- Remove the old filter from the frame.
- Install your new cabin filter into the frame.
- Slide the frame back into the housing.
- Install remove parts by reversing the removal procedure. Close the glovebox and it’s done.
