The primary purpose of cabin air filter is to help clean the air that enters into your vehicle through the ventilation system, keeping the air inside your vehicle clean and fresh. Location of this cabin filter: Passenger side of the vehicle under the glove box. Tools: Phillips-head screwdriver Vehicle: Corolla (02-08) ; Matrix (03-08)
When you change your filter (maybe variant for your model. Please see the owner’s manual or find a local mechanic for exact instructions for the particular model):
- Open the glovebox and remove the Phillips-head screw that secures the dampener arm to the passenger side of the glovebox and pull the arm loose.
- Press both sides the glovebox to release its stops. Allow the glovebox to swing all the way down.
- Remove the filter housing cover and pull the old filter straight out to remove it.
- Insert your new cabin air filter into the housing.
- Install remove parts by reversing the removal procedure.
- Close the glovebox and it’s done.

- Open the glove box and remove the dampener rod from the right side of the glove box.
- Push in on both sides of the glove box while pulling it downward until you disengage the stops on each side of the glove box.
- You should now see the cabin filter housing cover. Remove the cover and remove the old filter from the frame by pushing it up.
- Insert your new cabin air filter.
- Install remove parts by reversing the removal procedure.
- Close the glovebox and it’s done.
